Evening classes for the project "Tax and school"

Italian Revenue Agency

One of the aims of the Italian Revenue Agency is to promote tax compliance and to encourage citizens to participate in the functioning of public services by paying taxes.

With the project "Tax and school", the Revenue Agency’s offices organize meetings with schools to raise awareness about the importance of paying taxes and supporting public services. The tax officials, often in collaboration with the teachers and students, develop various educational activities to promote the culture of tax legality.

Among the different activities undertaken this year, the Regional Directorates of Tuscany has carried out the initiative "Tax and school in the evening". This project involved two Florentine high schools offering lessons in the evening for working students. During the lessons, the tax official illustrated the key concepts of tax legality, including how to use the Revenue Agency’s website and it's online services. The officials also introduced students to the pre-filled tax return, a practical tool for those already working and paying taxes. They also explained the tax return’s innovations and highlighted common deductions available for families with children in school. The lessons concluded with a tutorial where students practiced filling out a pre-filled tax return.

Students appreciated the initiative, emphasizing that "tax evasion can be defeated by educating future generations".
