Pupils learn about the taxes through the game

Dana Petre

Thanks to the Slovak financial administration, the Mobility Era board game reached the children of the primary school in  Kamenica nad Cirochou. The students of the 8th abd 9th grade immediately enthusiastically tried the game. The school's representative, Mrs. Bernardína Suchárová, confirmed that the English instructions did not cause a problem for the pupils with their language skills. The Mobility Era board game reaches European schools with the help of the European Commission's project coordinators as part of the promotion of the TAXED website. This site, as well as the game itself, serves to support the education of children and youth in the field of taxation. The game itself in the form of traveling around Europe supports not only knowledge of individual EU countries, but also their specific tax policy. Players test their knowledge of the realities of the Member States and at the same time experience paying income and sales taxes. The Slovak coordinators, as active members of the TAXED education promotion project, are also preparing other forms of tax knowledge promotion for children and young people. These meetings with students will take place either physically or in an unfavorable pandemic situation as part of the online training in the next calendar year.
